MOSTI Minister YB Chang Lih Kang and Zheng Xuefang launched PUCM's 2024 SCITE

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 – The China Entrepreneurs Association in Malaysia (PUCM) is to organise three events in May to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations.

They are China Smart Industry and Culture Trade Expo (CSITE 2024), an anniversary dinner and the publication of a commemorative book, said PUCM President Dato’ Keith Li.

The CSITE 2024 launch ceremony was officiated yesterday by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang, along with Minister of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia Zheng Xuefang.

Chang said many Chinese companies have recently invested in Malaysia, such as the East Coast Rail Link and the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley, which has opened many opportunities for Malaysians.

Additionally, it strengthens cooperation and enables the transfer of new technologies and expertise, he said.

“The Malaysian government is committed to developing a green and low-carbon industry. Given that areas like renewable energy generation and electric vehicles have rapidly developed in China, investments by Chinese companies in these areas in Malaysia are greatly welcomed to help reduce global carbon emissions.

“Malaysia projects its digital economy to contribute 25.5 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2025. It is hoped that more Chinese companies in artificial intelligence, data centres and cloud computing can invest in Malaysia, which can become a hub for foreign investors to expand their businesses in Southeast Asia and Asia,” Chang said.

Zheng Xuefang said that Scientific and technological innovation occupied a core position in China’s overall modernisation drive. China has achieved a series of breakthrough results in the development of science and technology: the China-Made large aircraft C919 completed its first commercial flight and is now participating in the international air show in Singapore for its first overseas appearance. The C919 large aircraft has already taken over 1,200 orders which formed a considerable large aircraft industry chain.

China has also achieved fruitful results in fields such as smart technology, chip industry, electric vehicles, and new energy. In the fourth quarter of last year, BYD surpassed Tesla to become the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer.

China and Malaysia maintain good cooperation in strategic emerging fields such as big data, new energy, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, digital economy, and green development.

Zheng Xuefang also hopes that China-Malaysia science and technology innovation cooperation will open up new space and inject new vitality to achieve greater development and more fruitful results to benefit both countries.

CSITE 2024 will be held in Hall 5 of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center on May 20th – 21st , with a total of 120 standard booths. More than half of them have been booked, interested company or organisation can log on to PUCM’s official website www.pucm.my for details.
